The best midsize or large cities for women can be found in geographic regions across the United States, but the 10 worst are all in the South. Personal finance website WalletHub ranks Columbia, Maryland, No. 1, Seattle No. 2 and Overland Park, Kansas, No. 3. Interestingly, all are college towns. WalletHub analyzed 15 metrics including median earnings for women workers, the quality of women’s hospitals and suicide rates. “Living in the right city can significantly improve a woman’s economic status, health and safety,” WalletHub analyst Milvionne Chery said. “The best cities for women offer job security and higher pay and also provide easily accessible medical care.” Jackson, Mississippi, ranked last.
