Massachusetts is the top state for women based on an analysis of economic and social well-being, health care and safety across 25 metrics. Personal finance website WalletHub cites women’s health as a key reason for Massachusetts’ No. 1 ranking, noting that only 2% of women in the state lack health insurance, the lowest share in the U.S. The District of Columbia, Maine, Minnesota and Maryland round out the top five. Worst states are Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Blue states are much more women-friendly than red states, with an average rank of 12, compared to 35 for red states.
