Women are increasingly taking the lead in the fight against data centers as spending skyrockets. The Associated Builders and Contractors says data center spending is up 28.1% the past year, hitting $50.7 billion in April with no signs of slowing. At the same time, a Gallup poll found that 55% of women across the U.S. register strong opposition to AI data center construction, compared to 43% of men. All told, 70% of Americans oppose constructing data centers for AI in their local area, mainly because of environmental and quality of life concerns.
