Women are more likely than men to feel guilty about spending money on things and experiences that bring them joy, according to a new Joy Index from Ally Bank, developed in partnership with YouGov. The survey of 5,000 people found that 75% of women feel at least some guilt about spending on joy rather than other financial goals, compared with 68% of men. The gap is even wider among those who feel a lot of guilt: 25% of women said they feel that way, compared with 15% of men. Overall, 79% of respondents said they spend on joy at least monthly, but just 15% said it’s easy to afford.
