Women’s board representation has fallen below 30%. The organization 50/50 Women on Boards says women hold 29.9% of Russell 3000 company board seats, “slipping below the 30% threshold reached in prior quarters.” The index includes 2,843 companies and more than 26,000 board seats. Utility companies have more women on their boards than any other sector (35.7%), while women hold only 26% of seats at energy companies. Almost 58% of Russell 3000 Index companies have three or more women on their boards, but the analysis notes that “a significant share of public company boards remain far from gender-balanced.”
