Women may be among the most important drivers of electric-vehicle adoption. Women’s interest in purchasing an EV rose 14 points in the past year, to 69%, among the biggest rises of any demographic group except for Black consumers, whose interest reached 87%. Older Americans are also becoming more interested, according to Veloz, the nonprofit behind the Electric For All — The Way Forward is Electric campaign. “The data gives us a clear answer,” Veloz Executive Director Josh D. Boone says. “This is a story about education, and when people understand the real benefits of driving electric, interest grows.” Men, however, still make up two-third of electric vehicle registrations, according to Edmunds, while women purchase or register between 41% and 43% of traditional gasoline and hybrid vehicles.
