Flex or remote job postings are stagnating. Hiring platform Indeed says, “despite stronger demand from women for benefits helping to balance work and family life,” postings advertising flexible schedules in the United States have fallen to 13.7% since November 2023, a decrease observed in several European countries as well. Indeed notes that workplace flexibility “supports both gender equity and labor supply,” adding that “women’s current life circumstances need to be addressed.” Several major companies, including Microsoft, Amazon and Chase, to name just a few, have tightened remote work policies as women exit the labor market in droves, with 91,000 leaving last December alone.
