Sixty-five percent of women rate the U.S. economy as poor or not so good, while 55% of men say it’s excellent or good, according to The Wall Street Journal. The poll also found that women are switching to less expensive groceries; weren’t confident they would have enough money for a vacation or buy a car; and are worried they won’t have enough retirement savings. Half of women said the economy will get worse in the next year, while only 39% of men thought the same. “We know that women in general earn less than men,” Deputy Coverage Chief Janet Adamy says, noting that women see the economy differently because they experience it differently. “They’re making a calculation about having more flexibility and perhaps working fewer hours so they can be home taking care of their families.”
