FDA approves non-hormonal treatment for hot flashes

The FDA has approved Bayer’s new menopause drug Lynkuet as a non-hormonal option for treating hot flashes in menopausal women. The drug is expected to be available in the United States beginning in November. “It’s important that women know they have choices for treating moderate to severe hot flashes due to menopause,” says Claire Gill, president and founder of the National Menopause Foundation. About 25 million women experience menopause each year, with menopausal and postmenopausal women expected to reach 1.2 billion by 2030.
