The “Mar-a-Lago Face” (think lip augmentations, heavy eyeliner and Botox) gets all the attention, but The New York Times ran a fascinating piece last weekend on the men in the Trump administration. “The concentration on their appearance is a constant,” journalist Jesse McKinley writes, “with policy pronouncements and social media feeds suffused with displays of physical strength, tough-guy talk and masculine mojo.” The article notes that Trump has a long history of criticizing the appearance of women, but “has also normalized talking about and critiquing men’s looks,” adding that the president uses outward appearances as a “crude political tool.” Definitely an interesting read.
