The Minnesota Legislature has passed the country’s first bill requiring companies to turn off consumer access to AI “nudification” technology that allows users to create nonconsensual, AI sexual imagery. Sen. Erin Maye Quade introduced the bill in 2025 following concerns raised by a group of women whose images from social media and personal photo albums were used to create hyperrealistic, AI-generated sexual representations. “Companies that make this technology available for free online and in app stores will no longer be allowed to enable predators who abuse and victimize adults and children with the click of a button,” said Maye Quade, who praised the victims for stepping forward. The bill passed 65-0.
