A new poll from The Highland Project says eight in 10 Black women voters say the country is worse off today than it was three or four years ago, adding that “this is not just stagnation. It is a slide backwards.” Eighty-eight percent say economic conditions are worse today than at the height of the pandemic. Top concerns include the erasure of Black history, the impact of tariffs and erosion of voting rights. Black women voters say they’re most likely to invest their resources in get-out-the-vote campaigns, personal therapy or vocational training. The poll notes that “Black women are not retreating. They are continuing to prioritize joy, voice and living healthy lives.”
