The University of Oregon has launched a social media initiative to call attention to its women’s athletic programs and student-athletes, with an eye toward NIL revenue-generating opportunities. Called GoDucksW, UO says the platform “represents another opportunity to set the industry standard in showcasing the accomplishments of women student-athletes and teams.” University officials call it a “first-of-its-kind” initiative that expands on its Women in Flight program founded in 2014 that seeks to raise the profile of UO women student-athletes. Among GoDucksW’s first moves was to rebrand its Instagram presence (with nearly 1 million followers across all GoDucks platforms) under the GoDucksW handle.
