Women hold one-third of board seats in top states

Minnesota and Washington state lead the U.S. in boardroom equity, while Nevada and Oklahoma significantly trail the national average. 50/50 Women on Boards notes that the national average is 29.9% across all companies in the Russell 3000 Index, with women holding 34% of all board seats in Minnesota and 33.7% in Washington. Several states, however, remain below the national benchmark, including Nevada at 23.9% and Oklahoma at 24.4%. The organization notes that “these gaps reinforce that national progress depends on stronger board renewal practices across local markets.” Utilities and consumer companies have the highest representation, while financial services and energy have the lowest.
