As companies abandon DEI efforts, workers increasingly report stigma or bias in the workplace. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation reports a 65% drop in Fortune 500 companies communicating DEI commitments to the Corporate Equality Index, while 54% of employees at companies that have scaled back or eroded DEI report negative experiences at work, more than double the rate at organizations with inclusion practices. The analysis finds that discrimination against LGBTQ+ workers is especially pronounced. “Companies that communicate clearly and lead with transparency earn trust, retain talent and strengthen their business,” Human Rights Campaign Foundation President Kelley Robinson says. “At a moment when fear and confusion are growing, providing clarity and confidence isn’t just good leadership. It’s essential.”
