A Florida company that allegedly fired a newly hired employee after learning she was pregnant has agreed to pay the woman, Nicole Cunningham, $25,000 in damages and another $5,000 in back pay. In a consent decree signed April 3, the company, IPRO Dental Laboratory, agreed to bring in a third-party equal employment opportunity coordinator at its own expense to attend several hours of Title VII and Pregnant Fair Workers Act (PFWA) training. The coordinator will also serve as a resource to managers and HR personnel for the duration of the consent decree, or three years. PFWA, passed in 2023, strengthens worker protections against discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth or other related medical conditions.
