Katherine Legge is poised to become the first woman to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 “Double” on May 24, something NASCAR calls “one of the most demanding feats in all of motorsports.” The back-to-back races combined cover more than 1,100 miles with virtually no time between them. Only five drivers have attempted “The Double.” All were men, with Kyle Larson most recently accomplishing the feat the past two years. Last year, Legge became the first woman to quality for a NASCAR Cup series race since Danica Patrick in 2012.
