Denmark’s parliamentary election on March 24 didn’t go as planned for Prime Minister Mette Frederickson and her Social Democrats party. Frederickson garnered international attention for standing up to President Trump after his overtures to take over the country, but her party failed to win a majority in what BBC calls its “weakest performance” since 1903. The party still has “by far the most seats,” but Frederickson will now have to build a coalition government. As recently as late January an Axios poll indicated the Social Democrats could win 73 seats. Early returns show it will win at least 38, compared to the 50 it gained four years ago.
