Working parents, particularly mothers and those with lower incomes, are struggling to separate their professional and family responsibilities. A new Pew Research report shows that 70% of working parents handle parenting tasks during working hours, while 59% complete work-related tasks while spending time with their children. Mothers are more likely than fathers to shoulder the mental and emotional demands while juggling both roles, while lower-income parents say they have less access to benefits such as paid time off or paid leave. As one parent said, “I’m supposed to work like I don’t have kids and supposed to parent like I don’t have a job.”
