Prominent business leader Ursula Burns will become the first African American woman to serve as Ford Foundation board chair in its 90-year history. Burns is the founder of Integrum, chairwoman of Teneo and former CEO at Xerox Corp. She replaces Dr. Francisco Cigarroa, who served as chair the past eight years. Burns, who joined the board in 2015, serves as chair of the Audit Committee and is also a member of the executive committee. The Ford Foundation works to address inequality, injustice and poverty around the globe. “I am particularly energized by this opportunity,” says Burns, who in 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to lead the White House national program on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. She also served as vice chair and chair of the President’s Export Council.
