The United States Department of Agriculture has rejected four women appointed to an industry trade group called the United Soybean Board. Reuters reports that the farmers were chosen by their peers to represent them on the board, which works to increase demand and promote soybean farmers. The agency also rejected one man. Three of the four women told the news agency that they view the move as part of a broader policy of the Trump administration to sideline women’s voices. It’s not known why the USDA rejected the appointments, but Reuters notes the move is consistent with the administration’s rollback of DEI policies.
