The NBA has quashed plans by the Atlanta Hawks to honor the Magic City strip club at its March 16 game. The move drew backlash across the league, particularly from San Antonio Spurs Center Luke Kornet, who was the first to speak out last week. The Hawks had called Magic City an “iconic cultural institution.” “While we appreciate the team’s perspective, we have heard significant concerns from a broad array of league stakeholders, including fans, partners and employees,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. “I believe canceling this promotion is the right decision for the broader NBA community.” The Hawks responded by saying they were “very disappointed” but fully respect the decision. The club has deleted its original announcement touting the promotion.
